It's Always Something With Him!

I will never get used to the wardrobe changes that Kailer pulls out in his attempts to be superheros. He said to me, "Mom, I wished I can jump out the window and fly like high like a superhero." Don't worry, my windows are locked. His imagination lately is limitless. He also told me today, "Mom, I wished I could jump in that TV and fight those lions with my sword." We love animal planet. The sad thing was the lions were attacking a hippo trying to get it for their next meal. What a sweetheart right? OK, so maybe some things on animal planet are not so child friendly. On a side note Meili took her first 3 steps in a row yesterday. She was scaling the wall and the wall ended, so she let go, wobbled, balanced then lifted her right foot, 1, 2, 3 and then fell to her bum! She was so proud of herself. She can freestand in the middle of the floor without putting her hands on the ground, just using her legs. I'm not even sure if I can do that! She's growing up and I'm trying to embrace it once again. Wish me luck!

Green Valley Ranch

We spent last week swimming everyday at Green Valley Ranch's private resort pool. It had a sandy beach that was a gradual decline. Kai coud wade into it; he had such a blast! He loved playing in the sand and swam his heart out everyday. He's turned out to be quite the swimmer. Although, it has been proven that he cannot successfully do it on his own, he can swim about 6 strokes with his head underwater holding his breath. The problem becomes when he needs to come up for air. He is doing well and we are continually working with him. I can officially say, NO more floaties for us! It's awesome, but it really just means that I have to be more on my guard now. He is a cautious child, so he won't just bail off the edge, but if he gets pushed or falls in we would have a problem. There are a lot of swimming related deaths here with toddlers and it is a continual reminder for me to be watching him. Meili enjoyed it too after the initial need to eat the sand every chance she got. She loved to stand at the edge of the pool with me holding her hands and lean into the water pretending to jump. I let her head get wet and she would hold her breath for a second. It didn't seem to phase her. I have true water babies. We so enjoyed last week and we're grateful for our many friendships and opportunities here!

Pioneer Day Parade in Vegas!

Yes, I know, weird that we could catch a parade in Vegas celebrating Pioneer Day, but we did! There is a stake here that puts on a parade every year and we found out about it through some friends, so we decided to partake! It was the most candy filled parade we have been to in a long time! We knew when we saw kids carrying plastic bags and pillowcases that it was going to be good. Kailer actually almost got bored of chasing after candy. He got really selective towards the end of the parade, only choosing his favorites! Meili was just happy to be and Kailer was happy to be eating candy. Then we went into the park for some free fun activites. Kailer won a frisbee and he actually is really good at throwing frisbee. He threw it right to Rich and now we even play it in the house cause he's pretty controlled! That, and it is too hot outside to do anything but swim!
On a side note, Meili is going to be 1 in a month and I can't even believe it. She loves to walk with us holding her hands and I can't wait for her to walk and stop being a human vaccuum. She eats everything off the floor and she gets so dirty! She is super sweet, crazy, and emotional all at the same time! What a little ball of hormones, poor girl.

Birthday Man!

WARNING: TONS OF PICS AND VIDEOS!!!!
So, here's how our day went. About every half an hour all day long I would say, "Hey Kai" "What Mom?" "Happy Birthday buddy" "Thanks MOM!!!" It was funny, he had the same amount of excitement every time! I asked Kai what he wanted to do for his birthday and he said swim at the waterslide pool. So we went to his preschool class and then went swimming with a friend and then came home and got ready for the party. He had his shoes on 2 hours before we were ready to leave. He could hardly contain himself. Ok so I'll admit I was up to 3 am working on this dinosaur cake, but it turned out so cute even though I was super low on sleep the next day, to think I had thoughts about working on it during the day. Crazy really. We made little cupcakes with dinosaur sprinkles and plastic dinosaurs on top. He even got dinosaur balloons. On the way to his party he said to me, "Mom! Stop! I need a party hat!" Alright, random, but alright so I made a quick call, as rich was already at the party store filling balloons and by golly we had party hats. What the birthday man wants the birthday man gets right? He had 5 or 6 little friends there and he had great time playing all thee games. Peter Piper Pizza is a mini chucky cheese. Games, tokens, and pizza. The whole time Kai was begging us to sing the birthday song so he could tear into his cake and presents. The cake was destroyed in about five seconds. He dug into it with a fork and was literally shaking from frosting overload. He got a couple of spiderman toys, playdough, and a train set. He was so excited and on such a sugar rush from eating nothing but cake for dinner that he was up till 10:30 playing. He slept till 10 the next morning, can you say party hangover?!! He got a Jedi with a bunch of plastic guns, a picture of christ, and some illegally mailed fireworks from uncle Daniel while on his mission. What a combo right? We gave him a tee ball maching since he's signed up for that in the fall. Thanks everyone for making it so much fun for him! ps 2 Nights in a row with dry underwear!

Prepare Yourselves

(Yes this look is a daily occurance at our house except not the naked part)

Watch out world, here he comes! He turns three today and I can officially say without a doubt that he is potty trained! I kept him naked for the first couple of days so he could feel when he needed to go. He only peed on the floor twice and then that was it. Then I put him in underwear and clothes after a couple of days and the habit of going on the toliet stayed with him. We're so proud of him! I can't believe it went as well as it did. I haven't changed a diaper on him since a week ago Sunday and I am so excited about it! He hasn't had an accident yet! He's still wearing a pull up to bed and we will keep working on that, I just need to get up the courage to put him in underwear overnight. Scary. Can't believe it has finally happened! We love you Kai and we are so excited for you! Happy birthday my baby.
