I cannot believe it. My little man has grown up. Kai was so excited to go to school today. He methodically planned out what he was going to wear, (dragon pants, even though it is 100+ degrees outside, striped blue shirt just like his daddy, and his new light up shoes. He even was complete with a camo backpack and must have matching lunchbox, even though he really doesn't get a lunch break, he brought a snack to eat during recess.) He jumped in the car after a whole morning of preparation and excitement and said, 'oh mom! I just can't wait, I'm just so excited!' He was so giddy. We stopped off at the hospital to meet Rich for a second and snapped a quick picture. We parked at the school and walked to the 'kindergarten gate', which they lock behind themselves after all the kids line up with their teachers. We walked him in and he gave each of us, me, Tristan, and Mei a kiss and hug and waved goodbye to us. He was so happy and so excited. I was happy for him and not really sad. Meili just couldn't wait to get into her bed as Kgarten is during nap time, which works wonderfully for me I must say! I did have some flashbacks on the way home of him as a baby and us at the hospital and bringing him home to price. I did feel a little nostalgic, but I think it was day 2 when it became a little more real for me. Still I'm not in tears yet, maybe 1st grade when he's actually gone all day, might be a little harder then. Especially for Meili, oh how she will miss him... When we picked him up he was like a little chatter box, he told me all about square time and told me, 'mom did you know that my brain and meili's brain and your brain and daddy's brain are all the same size!!' (like it's a contest or something) and then he said, 'mom I just want to stay there all day long, I don't even think I should go to sleep tonight, I'm so excited'. Needless to say this boy is cut out for school and lots of it. Here's to the next 13+ years big man :) Watch out world, here he comes...
Sadly, the chubber was sleeping through most of this or in my arms so he never ended up in a picture I just realized... bummer
